The Sleeping Beauty
Bass Performance Hall
525 Commerce St.
Fort Worth, TX 76102
October 17-19
Texas Ballet Theater is pleased to be joined by The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra once again to present The Sleeping Beauty, a classic fairytale about Princess Aurora, Prince Florimund, the evil fairy Carabosse and a one hundred-year Curse. Featuring music composed by Tchaikovsky, this piece is a beautiful retelling of the French version of the story by Charles Perrault. After the evil fairy is overlooked to attend the christening of the infant Princess Aurora, she places a curse on the child; if the Princess pricks her finger on a spinning wheel, she will die. One of the other fairies at the christening is able to partially reverse the curse. If the Princess pricks her finger, she will fall asleep for 100 years and must wait for Prince to wake her. This production has been described by critics as being "polished and lively" and with the addition of the live Symphony Orchestra, is poised to be a crowd favorite this season.
